The Dutch Crit season started with a bang last Saturday on the 7th of April. More riders than ever for each category meant more fun and sick bikes than ever.

TFGS x Unknown was there for our first ever race in this formula and our team rider Mike Vliestra went for his first ever fixed gear race in category B. Mike started off the season and crit racing journey in great style, not only winning the prime lap but also getting 1st place overall. This means that from next crit on, you will be seeing him in the starting line of the A series!

He was followed closely by Marko Jeletich (also first timer in a fixed gear criterium) and Thomas Fontijn of team Mago in 2nd and 3rd place.

This year meant a great start for the women’s criterium series, as there were enough riders to complete a dedicated women’s category. Jo Smith of team NLTCBMBC won the race, followed by Michelle de Graaf from team IRD Carrera Squadra Corse in 2nd place. 3rd place went to Nathalie Simoens of team FAST Amsterdam. Great performance by the girls and also worth mentioning was first timer Elke Oude Weernink, who kept up pace admirably and finished 5th.

The main event of the day, the A race was a thriller, with national Italian Fixed Cup champion Martino Poccianti of team Cykeln Divisione Corse arriving in 1st place, followed by last year’s Red Hook Barcelona winner David van Eerd. Edwin van Kerkhof of team FAST Amsteram won 3rd place with a great performance.

Overall the day was great, everyone had a good time and we’re really proud of the way the guys over at NL Crit Series are helping the sport grow with each race.

The next crit in this series will be in Made on the 21st of April, happening in between the races of the 77th Ronde van Made. We will be there with our team, this time in both race categories with Axel Dekker riding in B, and Adrik Elzing together with newly promoted Mike Vliestra riding in the A category!

Keep an eye on the magazine for an update on 8Bar Crit happening in Berlin next weekend, where TFGS x Unknown will be racing again!
